Tina Sailing

a family crew

The crew at the helm of the TINA restoration project is an Italian family who fell in love with the boat and decided to embark on this long journey. 90% of the restoration was carried out by the Martignoni family, with the remaining part done by a master shipwright and a naval carpenter who mainly worked on the deckhouse and the bulwark. Previously, we had never undertaken boat restoration projects, but with TINA, I would say we started with a bang!

Massimo Martignoni (The Dad)

Let's start with the owner! Massimo works in banking and is passionate about sailing, but he had no experience with wood or wooden boats before starting this restoration. He has always described himself as "all thumbs," but during this project, he has developed his manual skills to record-breaking levels. He is a great motivator and never gives up! Since 2021, he has dedicated all weekends and free time to restoring Tina with Matteo, learning a lot about woodworking.

Matteo Martignoni (The Son)

Matteo, Massimo's and Elisabetta son, has been passionate about boats and ships since he was a child, which led him to pursue a career in the field, earning a Master degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Before this restoration, he had no experience with wooden boats, even though he had good manual skills. He challenged himself by studying how to carry out a restoration, learning to work with wood, and, together with his father, completed 90% of the restoration—from dismantling to planking, framing, and finally rebuilding the interiors. Actually, he is working for an International Certification society in Milano following Marine operations for Energy sector.

Elisabetta Pirovano (The Mum)

Elisabetta, Massimo's wife, also known as "Archi Betta," is a talented artist who loves restoring old abandoned furniture. Occasionally—or rather, always lately—she comes to the shipyard to help us out, taking on all the tasks that require patience and precision, like painting, finishing resin work, and so on. She hates mess and dust, and every time she arrives, she complains about the tools scattered around the boat or the workshop. Recently, she's been painting everything herself!

Vittoria Martignoni (The Daughter)

Vittoria, Massimo's and Elisabetta's daughter, has been living in Zurich for a few years now and rarely visits our shipyard, but when she does, she gets right to work. During the planking work, she filled all the nails and screws and helped clean the gunwale!
